There's a reason Donkervoort holds the lap record time at the Nürburgring. It's because of efforts like the Donkevoort D8 GT4, which has started production with a curb weight of a scant 1430 lbs.
First shown at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show, the Donkervoort D8 GT4 follows the Dutch company's batshit-insane engineering philosophy which battles against every bit of weight. The result is a 650 kg masterpiece of carbon fiber and kevlar powered by a 270 HP version of the Audi 1.8T four cylinder. The car has started production with an estimated price of $120,000, which happens to be the going rate for a black market kidney... hmmm. [Autoblog.it (translated)]
