Crated Carlite

crated Carlite

When I bought my 1961 Pontiac Ventura “bubbletop” four years ago it came with a bunch of original parts. Inside the spacious trunk there was an NOS right front fender, rocker panels and a pair of rear fender skirts. The big item was this brand new Carlite front windshield. As you can see it’s still in the original wooden crate that it was shipped in, and has never been taken out. Still in perfect condition, unlike the cracked windshield on the Ventura that’s there now this replacement windshield has a blue tinted band across the top. It doesn’t have the original white “Safety Plate” markings in the lower right-side corner, instead it says “PPG Solex Duplicate Laminated Safety Glass”. I don’t know much about period-correct glass, but I can only assume that this is an authentic period replacement windshield. Can anyone add to this?
